Every Sunday, dailywaffle.co.uk will bring you a quick 60 second interview with a different member of our writing team. This week we talk to one of the original wafflers. The lovely, vibrant and a wee bit crazy, Kay (@miniwaffler)
What / Who inspired you to write?
I grew up in a household, where books, reading and creativity was actively encouraged. I’ve always been a chatterbox and writing is an extension of my witterings. I’ve always written for myself, to see something written down to go back to, gives me a chance to understand and reflect what’s going on in my head. I love writing my personal blog, it’s not about followers or readership, it’s for me, but I’m happy for others to read it.
What do you most enjoy writing about and why?
I love writing about health, as good health is important to me. I also love personal pieces. I adore trawling for information, gathering it all together and presenting it into a readable attractive package. It always pleasantly surprises me that people trust me with their personal stories and I enjoy the positive feedback my writing receives. Creatively I love writing poetry, mini stories and just thoughts that may or may not become something more……
My personal blog is like a diary, it’s a pleasure to write and an eyeopener to where my heads at and progress made.
Name 3 people who inspire you
Firstly my mom…..she always encouraged me to write and will maintain she regrets not being a pushy mom and sending my childhood writing off to Ladybird books lol maybe they would’ve loved it, maybe not but she’s so sweet to be a fan
Secondly Sarah (Blissbubbley), she inspired me to write a personal blog. She knew I’m not techy but she knew if I climbed aboard and started writing on that platform I would love it. She was right
she then introduced me to Peter who encouraged me to write waffle. I’ve been so blessed with 2 people who encourage me so much and in turn they inspire me with their wafflings and blogs.
Thirdly and most importantly my husband Bill…… He’s always encouraging me to write, he’s so proud of my work and me. To have that in your life is inspiring and I love how throughout my life I’ve never felt guilty taking time out to enjoy my passion.
Give me one fact about yourself
I was one of the children in a Lada commercial!!! Oh the fame
my pay for a days work was fish and chips…….
What’s the most blatant lie you have ever told?
My most blatant lie was when I told Bill I went to ballet and proceeded to show him my “moves” I made up a teachers name, times of classes etc and said I had to give up because it clashed with one of my other, probably made up, hobbies. We were young teens at the time. For years I would argue that it was the truth. For years he doubted but accepted my lie. I’ve just brought it up and he’s given me such a look, stared me out and said you never did ballet did you? My face just gave me away #oops me bad!!
