So you’ve been laid up for days clutching your hot water bottle. Moaning to anyone who’ll listen about the cramps, that you just can’t take it. And up pops that advert. Girls, you know the one I’m talking about…
”Have A Happy Period”
Seriously? Does it make you want to punch the tv as much as it makes me want to?!
I’m one of those girls who can just write off at least 1 week out of a month. I can barely move. Everything hurts. My moods are uncontrollable. The cramps are diabolical.
So what works with helping during these times?
A hot water bottle? No not really. Yes it eases the pain ever so slightly but it doesn’t do much.
A hot bath? Are you KIDDING ME!? Not a chance!
Some tea, chocolate and a good weepy film / book? No, absolutely not as caffeine makes cramping worse. Although if you want to end up a snotty mess go for the film / book by all means… but when your lip starts trembling at Home & Away you know it’s time to step away 
Feminax and other period aimed over the counter medications? Feminax used to help me but now they’ve changed the formula it doesn’t even touch the sides.
So where does that leave us?
In a blinding rage of pain and agitation.
And so back to when you’ve finally made up after the inevitable PMS induced argument you’ve just had with your other half / family member. You’re feeling a little calmer, hell you may even feel a bit better having got what you needed to off your chest…

Well, I would just personally like to take this opportunity to say to Always: BOG OFF! There will NEVER be a ”happy period” ok? Comprende?
Now that all of that is out there, has anyone any useful tips for bad and painful periods? If so, I’d love to hear them!!
