For Those Rainy Days

Rainy-Day

When I was younger, I used to hate rainy days. And, living in Northern Ireland, rainy days were a regular thing. I used to sit staring at the window, bored, waiting for the sun to come back. My only entertainment consisted of ‘Raindrop Races’ and complaining to my mum about how bored I was.
Nowadays, rainy days can still annoy me. But more often than not, I enjoy rainy days- I love lounging about in my pyjamas and not doing much.
There are certain things that I always seem to do on rainy days, which make them seem more special. And today, you lucky people can have some ideas from me on what to do when it rains. Unless of course you live somewhere where it never rains.. lucky you. Or, unlucky you?

One of the things I love to do most on rainy days is bake. Nothing beats being in a warm kitchen while outside the weather is horrible. One of my favourite things for rainy days is pancakes. Maybe it’s something to do with the Jack Johnson song ‘Banana Pancakes’, but I always associate making pancakes with rainy days and Sundays. And banana pancakes, by the way, are absolutely amazing. Go on, get baking; you know you want to!

I also love reading when it’s wet outside. This is the major bookworm in me coming out, but curling up on the sofa with a blanket and a good book is so comforting and enjoyable. Put on some mellow chilled music, forget that drizzle outside and lose yourself in a story for a few hours. You won’t regret it.

Speaking of music, there are some great playlists for rainy days on websites like 8tracks. Maybe what you need is a day to lie on your bed with your arms crossed behind your head and your headphones. Pretend the world doesn’t exist. Rainy days are the best days for thinking.

Rainy days don’t have to be lonely days, either! I love going to coffee or even staying at home with a family member or friend, and just enjoying each other’s company. My favourite thing to do on rainy days with my best friend is watch Pixar movies and talk the biggest bunch of utter crap for hours. Rainy days are great for just staying indoors and being with somebody you love.

Of course, just because it’s rainy outside doesn’t mean you have to stay inside! Sometimes being out in the rain is quite fun; I always feel like I’m in a movie. And I love the smell of the rain too. If you’re feeling up to it, put on your most ridiculously patterned wellies and get out there! Have a splash if you do so desire.

As always, I’d love to hear from you guys- what do you do on a rainy day? Do you prefer rainy days or dry days? Comment below and I promise to get back to you all.

Have a lovely day guys!
