Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Funny Valentine Day Happy Valentines

Happy February Wafflers! I know this post may seem a wee bit early but there is a reason for that, one has to be organised. (Just do whatever the crazy person says….)

Thinking about the best Valentine’s gift to get himself? Boys, are you so confused about what to get her?

The best way to keep Valentine’s Day romantic and prevent it from feeling like a generic Hallmark money making holiday is to put a bit of thought into it, be organised and keep things simple. Valentine’s Day really is about the thought and not the price.

Gifts for Him

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been with someone, there’s always some worrying done when it comes to gifts.
He may like lots of things and have a lot of interests, so what happens if you give him something a bit silly and well….crap. Though he’ll probably appreciate the thought, things might get awkward if he pulls out some expensive flowers and/or bling and you give him a tie, and he never wears them. As much as he won’t like the gift, just imagine how bad you’ll feel.

I think I’d be right to assume that men don’t really like teddy bears and roses, so stay clear of the Valentine’s Day sections in stores, they’ll just confuse you.

A new gadget would be good for the man in your life to appeal to his geeky side, or a subscription for his favourite lads mag.

Think about his routine and what he likes to do and use and just look for something that would suit him, for example if he likes listening to music perhaps some new headphones, or if he’s active a heart rate monitor or a new gym bag you can stick a sweet love note in one of the pockets too.

Tickets to an event or show is always great, you could go together and have a romantic date night, or if it’s something you’re not into he could bring a friend and have a lads night out, that’ll definitely score you some points!

Simple things work a treat too, let him pick the movie and the restaurant for a date night. You may head up going to see a crazy action flick then heading to the pub for pints and buffalo wings but he’ll totally appreciate it.

The best gift that you can give to your man is your care and time and some special attention! ;) Cancel all your appointments and dedicate one complete day to the love of your life. Stay with him, pamper him, cook for him, just be his for the complete day. If you’re lucky he might return the favour.

Gifts for Her

I can’t speak for all women but I think a lot of us are easily pleased. Telling us sweet things and showing us how much you love us means more to us then things. No I’m not saying don’t get any “things” but… you know what I mean. Tee hee hee. Sure some men might find it easier to buy something then to say something.

You want to get her something that shows how much you care, of course, but it’s also important to demonstrate you know her, her likes and dislikes, favourite colours, all that sorta stuff. It’s the little things that make us women happy, so think outside the box before you just plunk down your hard-earned cash on something silly and generic.

Here are some choices that will show her how much you care without being too predictable:

Shoes, you should know what she likes. Only cause you get dragged into every shoe shop everywhere, ha ha ha!

Flowers are always so sweet, and you don’t necessarily have to spend so much money on dozens of red roses. Do you know what her favourite flower is? Get her a small bunch of those, very sweet and unpredictable.

Jewellery is always good, oh and if you can afford it, diamonds. Diamonds are gooooood, girls love diamonds!

Instead of a random heart shaped box of chocolates, buy her a lot of something that she loves. My lovely guy one Valentine’s Day bought me a huge bag of my favourite jellies from the Sweet Factory; they did not last very long….

Again, keep things simple. Make a collage with photos of some of your most memorable moments. Write her a love letter, make her coupons for back massages or a home cooked meal, sweet things like that. Take her shopping, dine at the restaurants she likes, make her her favourite cocktail, watch the sunset with her, tell her how beautiful she is and what she really means to you. We love all that crap! LOL.

I'm Sam. I'm slightly crazy and I love being a Waffler! I like to think of myself as a bit of a fashionista, but that's really just another word for shopaholic.
