Released: 28th September (UK)
Seems like only a week ago I was discussing how Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises) was the hardest working man in Hollywood, never being off our screens. Well, it was a week ago as I brought you the trailer to Premium Rush. This week its the turn of Rian Johnson (Breaking Bad) directed time travelling caper, Looper, co-starring Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada).
Gordon-Levitt plays Joseph Simmons, an assassin for a mafia-like company in Kansas City. His job is a ‘Looper’, who basically kill anyone sent back in time from the companies corporate headquarters in Shanghai in the year 2077. His world is turned upside down when his future self (Willis) comes through as a target, escapes his clutches forces young Joe to hunt his older self. Due to the failure, the company turn on young Joe and hunt his down as he hunts his older self.
The film has been absolutely hammered with praise form all quarters, with it being dubbed ‘one of the best films of 2012’ by UK film magazine Total Film. Gordon-Levitt had to sit through hours of make-up each day to enable him to look like a younger version of Bruce Willis, and their performances in the film have been critically acclaimed. The film looks outstanding for sci-fi fans and action fans alike, and certainly looks like one of the must-see films of the year.
