Belly Fat has become a big no-no in today’s society. It’s become the distinguishing factor between a fit and active individual and someone who doesn’t pay much attention to their health.
It’s a just a cause of concern for those who are worried that their big belly may be peeping out from under their shirts or that they can’t fit into their bodycon dresses anymore, belly fat is also a health risk.
You may not be overweight but having excessive fat around your abdomen can put you at risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and even colorectal cancer.
Follow these 5 simple tips to lost fat around your belly.
1) Say no to carbs
Once you completely ditch the carbs, you’ll notice the results instantly. An abundance of studies reveal that when you consume less carbs, you appetite also reduces. Following a meal plan that consists of low-carb meals will help you drop 2-3 more weight than a typical low-fat diet will, even if you weren’t restricting your calorie intake.
A low-fat diet will also lead to a decrease in water weight almost instantly.
You can’t really target specific parts of your body to lose weight from unless you exercise but research has found that choosing to avoid carbs helps you shed fat specifically around the abdominal region.
By just avoiding regular white bread and pasta, you should be able to notice a significant loss of fat around your tummy.
2) Eat more proteins
You need to up your protein intake to be able to get that slim waist you desire. When you are trying to lose weight than you have to increase your consumption of protein.
Having protein regularly can reduce cravings by up to a huge 60%. Eating proteins on a regular basis can help you eat around 440 less calories every day. Protein also increases your metabolic rate, you can be losing 80-100 calories daily.
Protein has been linked to the reduction of belly fat in many studies. One study revealed that eating protein a good amount of high-quality protein was inversely related to belly fat.
3) Fibrous foods are the way to go
Fiber is basically indigestible plant matter. Having good amounts of fiber will help you drop pounds but in order for that to happen, you need to eat the right kind of fiber.
Fiber that is solid and viscous has an impact on your weight. This type of fiber combines with water and creates a gel which then settles in your gut. The gel actually slows down the process of digestion and the absorption of nutrients – making you feel full for longer.
Consuming a decent amount of soluble fiber daily helps reduce belly fat. Fruits and vegetables are a great source of soluble fibers, along with legumes and cereals such as oats.
4) Exercise, Exercise and more exercise
Diet on your own won’t be enough to help shed belly fat, you need to exercise to melt inches off your waist.
Just doing exercises that target your belly will not be effective in losing belly fat. The idea of reducing fat just in one spot (aka spot reduction) is not possible – you need to be working out your whole body to get real results.
Pick an aerobic activity to do that uses your entire body like power-walking, aerobics, swimming, running. Engaging in aerobic activity on a regular basis is bound to help you lose fat from your belly.
5) Stay away from sugar
Sugar that is added to processed foods is awful for your metabolic rate. Sugar is made up of glucose and fructose. Fructose is only metabolized by the liver in small amounts. If there is an abundance of fructose in the liver, the liver is forced to convert into fat.
Research shows that the excessive consumption of sugary foods, that have a specifically high content of fructose, results in the collection of fat around the belly.
To avoid the accumulation of fat on your tummy and just for better health, reduce your daily sugar intake and consider removing processed beverages with added sugars from your diet completely.
