Why would you choose natural skincare?
The beauty industry may be huge, but the sad truth is that the majority of products on the market today still contain chemicals that can irritate your skin and lead to further problems down the line. Luckily, we now have the healthier and safer alternative of natural skincare.
When you bear in mind that your skin absorbs a lot of what you put on it, why would you want some of this to include chemicals? Even today, the beauty industry is highly unregulated meaning that a lot of ingredients lists can be highly deceptive. The rule tends to be: if you don’t know what the ingredient is, don’t put it on your skin.
With natural skincare products, such as those from Tropic Skincare, becoming more readily available the question is: what ingredients should we be looking out for?
If you have dry skin
Plenty of things can cause dry skin, but whether it’s the weather or a natural depletion of oils in our skin as we age, it can be an irritating issue. To combat it, opt for natural oils such as olive oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil that can help your skin replenish its natural oils and you’ll be much less likely to suffer from the dreaded flaky skin.
If you have oily skin
While those with oily skin can suffer less from wrinkles, it can still be tough to deal with. Oily skin is the result of an overproduction of sebum from sebaceous glands under the skin’s surface. Everyone needs sebum but too much can lead to issues such as clogged pores and acne. Try natural remedies like honey, lemon juice, aloe vera and cucumber to soak up some of this excess oil and take the shine from your face.
If you have normal skin
Those with a normal skin type can consider themselves lucky, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t suffer from skin issues every now and again. Natural ingredients are always going to be better for your skin because they can help to battle breakouts, diminish signs of pigmentation and soothe irritation. Look out for natural skincare products with ingredients including beta-carotene, green tea extract, soy, vitamin C, and witch hazel.
If you have combination skin
Combination skin is skin that has oily, dry and normal areas. Those with this skin type will usually have an oily t-zone (the area around the forehead, nose and chin) and drier cheeks. For that reason, this skin type needs a slightly stricter skincare regimen but will still benefit from natural ingredients such as honey, banana, rose water, cucumber and fuller’s earth.
If you have sensitive skin
If you’re someone who suffers from sensitive skin, you’ll know how frustrating it can be to find products that won’t irritate you. Whether you suffer from red blotches, patches of eczema or contact dermatitis, natural ingredients like aloe vera, calendula extract, chamomile extract, shea butter and beeswax can help to cleanse, moisturise and sooth any sensitivity you may be feeling.
