With 22.4 million women using the #GirlsWhoLift hashtag on Instagram, now is the time to celebrate the women who are showing us that its sexy to be strong and that lifting is a great way to be physically and mentally fit.

Bodybuilding and fitness expert Erny Peibst has compiled a list of the top 10 female bodybuilders who are seriously ripped. But it’s not all about chiselled abs, these women each have their own inspirational story, from competing in national championships to battling anorexia and alcohol addiction – they’re showing that hard work and dedication pay off and are inspiring women all over the world along the way.

I’ve always been the type to say yes to everything and anything because I want to please , but you know what sometimes it’s perfectly fine to say no. Sometimes you just don’t want to do something, or you may have the time but want to focus on other things? Like self love, self care – and that’s ok. It doesn’t make you a bad person, no one at the end of the day is going to look after you, but you. So take that time that you need. How many of you have a goal weight you think you need to be? : : Coming down from 200lbs, before weight training, when cardio was life I always thought I needed to be 135 lbs, it didn’t matter what I did or how I looked, if I wasn’t 135lbs or getting there I wasn’t happy. That all changed when I started building muscle. The scale would always freak me out, like “why the f*ck isn’t it moving down?!!!” But I was looking better losing inches off my waist hips and thighs. My name is KMC & I’m an addict/alcoholic. I’ll be five years sober on May 28th. I was able to finally beat cocaine & whiskey (after MANY failed attempts & relapses) through lifting. Which made me fall in love with being strong, as it’s the only thing that has ever been able to hold power over my addiction demons. So I worked my ass off & saved up enough money to open a gym. And now I pay it forward to other addicts like myself, through a program I created called @Reps4Recovery.
