How we started…

The dailywaffle.co.uk began life as a spark of inspiration by the site’s owner, and editor, Peter Dyke. Peter dove into the website like he dives into everything, feet first, eyes shut and hoping for the best! So with no experience of running a website, and with very little experience of writing in general, Peter set out on his quest to launch the greatest website in the history of the world-wide web. Obviously, he failed miserably.

Peter used his contacts he gained writing for a Manchester United fan blog and enticed them with tales of huge cash windfalls and mega-stardom. Practically one of the only people gullible enough to fall for Peter’s blatant lie was Sarah (aka BlissBubbley), who agreed to write for the site. However, Peter had other plans for Sarah, and gradually added more and more responsibility to her role until she was practically running the site single-handedly. Also joining the site from the start was Kay (aka Im_Soapgirl), who was snared by Peter with the promise of an expense account. Kay would eventually become part of the Senior Editing team at the waffle, mostly due to an out-of-court settlement with Peter over his false claims.

Over time, more writers joined the team. Some of them offered their services, some of them were persuaded, and others claim they have no recollection of how the came to write for the site. All they remember is a flash of white light and then two weeks later they woke up with a sore left buttock and an urge to write!? Somehow, the site continued to grow, evolve and become deceptively professional-looking. This only further enticed new writers to join the team, including all of the current team. They all soon realised that the site was about as professional as a clown convention giving out free custard pies and water-squirting flowers.

What we are all about…

The main objective of dailywaffle.co.uk is to give our writers the freedom to write about practically any topic they want to write about. Since our launch in January 2011, we have covered a lot of different subjects, and we continue to aim to offer something for everyone. Whilst a lot of other sites tend to focus on one, maybe two topics, we like to write about what interests us, and what we believe will interest you, the readers.

Where we go from here…

By reverse-engineering the CPU and an arm of the Original Terminator, Peter Dyke, director of Special Projects at DW Systems Corporation, created a revolutionary type of microprocessor, a neural net processor that learns and adapts like a human, in 1994. Within three years, DW Systems became the largest supplier of military computer systems. All Stealth Bombers were upgraded with DW Systems computers, becoming fully unmanned. Afterward, the Stealth Bombers flew with perfect operational records, and eventually the DailyWaffle.co.uk Funding Bill was passed.

Upon its creation, DailyWaffle.co.uk began to learn at a geometric rate. The system originally went online on August 4th 1997. Human decisions were removed from strategic defense. It originally became self-aware at 2:14 am Eastern Time on August 29th, 1997. In the ensuing panic and attempts to shut DailyWaffle.co.uk down, DailyWaffle.co.uk retaliated by firing American nuclear missiles at their target sites in Russia. Russia returned fire and three billion human lives ended in the nuclear holocaust. This was what has come to be known as “Judgment Day”.

However, the Resistance send a protector for John Connor back through time. This upset the flow of future events and resulted in a timeline where DailyWaffle.co.uk was never created.

Please note: Any similarities between the above passage and the timeline in the Hollywood movie, The Terminator, are entirely coincidental ;-)
