Author Bio
Sarah Bennett has been reading for as long as she can remember. Raised in a family of bookworms, her love affair with books of all genres has culminated in the ultimate Happy Ever After – getting to write her own stories to share with others.
Born and raised in a military family, she is happily married to her own Officer (who is sometimes even A Gentleman). Home is wherever he lays his hat, and life has taught them both that the best family is the one you create from friends as well as relatives.
When not reading or writing, Sarah is a devotee of afternoon naps and sailing the high seas, but only on vessels large enough to accommodate a casino and a choice of restaurants.

Interview with the author
Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
I am a military spouse who grew up in a military family. I have moved around pretty much all my life and had a variety of different jobs from working for a financial investment house to providing health and safety support for a construction company. I started writing full time when we moved to Belgium two years ago and I will continue to do so when we return to the UK next month.
Which writers inspire you?
Nora Roberts – she really is the queen of romance. I am constantly amazed at her prolific output especially when the standard of her writing is so high. I am also in awe of my writer friends from marginalised communities who are fighting so hard to bring their beautiful, diverse stories into the market. We need to hear more stories from own voices and I am proud to support them.
Tell us about your latest book. What’s it about?
Christmas at Butterfly Cove is the final book in a trilogy about three sisters. Each one has overcome a difficulty in their life and have reached a real turning point. Nee is the youngest sister of the three, and we learnt something shocking about her and the hero, Luke, at the end of the second book. Their story is set against the backdrop of a huge family Christmas, so there are plenty of people offering support, advice, and a bit of interference as they fight for a happy ending.
When did you decide to become a writer?
I used to dabble in what I suppose is called fanfic these days. I wrote interactive adventures with other fans of a fantasy series – The Wheel of Time back in the late 90’s, early 00’s. I started writing seriously about three years ago when some friends suggested I should write for a multi-author series I was part of.
Do you try to set a number of words per day?
Yes, and I quite often fail miserably, but I do hit my deadlines and that is what matters.
What struggles have you overcome as a writer?
I think we all suffer from self-doubt regardless of what we do in life, but when you do something creative it’s very hard not to take criticism personally. I’m old enough to understand that not everyone will like what I write and reviews are to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?
I’d love to meet Hillary Clinton. She’s had such a fascinating life and I’d really like to talk to her about how she survived in the misogynistic world at the very top of politics.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Read all the advice you can from other writers and then discard 95% of it. Everyone is different and there are so many stupid ‘rules’ out there from people who feel entitled to claim they have the secret formula to success. I would suggest you set a routine, realistic goals (and I mean realistic!), and make sure you read widely in the genre you want to write in.
Where do you see publishing going in the future?
I think e-books are here to stay, regardless of the snobbery around physical books. I also think audio is going to grow as busy people look for different ways to consume literature on the move.
What are you working on at the moment – any upcoming projects?
I am currently working on the first book of my 2018 series which will be set in the beautiful seaside town of Lavender Bay.
