Sarah’s Bakery Corner – Oh Whoopie

My first experience of hearing about a whoopie pie was greeted with a cheeky smile and a “need to have one now” investigation into where I could buy one. I was totally hooked.

Is it a cake? Is it a cookie? No it’s a whoopie pie. Liking it to something else takes away its credit.

So, a whoopie pie is two rounds of cakey goodness sandwiched together with a fluffy cream filling.

In my picture above of my recent baking session you’ll see how some look like a volcano and others have the rounder shape. I like the individuality (otherwise known as a twonky oven!). Also there are so many different whoopie pie recipes, my next one to try will be to make chocolate ones again but with a peanut butter cream filling. Nom!

Then I’ll probably have a go at the Red Velvet ones… Gingerbread sounds good too…

I’ve recently bought a couple of the whoopie pie tins from Lakeland (I could spend a fortune there) and for some fab recipes this is a good place to start.

If you’re not up for making your own then Starbucks now sell them too. Just another reason to go there 😉
