Kids’ Fantasy Foods Imagined Into Reality

The mind of a child is a wonderful place; full of hope, laughter, and most importantly, make-believe stories. Between the ages of 4 and 10, children are often creating their own fantasy worlds with their powerful imaginations and are often kept occupied by this for hours.

The imagination of a child is a very unique tool which allows the child to think up some pretty awesome ideas. This very sentence got the guys at ShipIt thinking: What if we put an open-ended, imaginative question to a group of young children, in order to capture their responses through images?

Well, ShipIt decided to do just that. Their question: If you can create any meal, without restrictions, what would it be? ShipIt then decided to turn their images and text into a photoshopped version to bring their fantasy food to life!

Crunch Caramel Banana

Hannah definitely has a sweet tooth! For Hannah’s fantasy food, she opted for a banana-shaped (yep, that’s right, it’s not a real banana…and you thought a child opted for fruit, pah!) hollow piece of caramel filled with marshmallows.

Although we wouldn’t usually recommend this type of food for breakfast, it might take your child all day to get over the sugar rush, so it’s probably a good idea to have this as early as possible…unless the sleep deprived look is what you’re going for…

Chocolate Mars Bar Burger

What do kids love more than chocolate and burgers? A chocolate burger, that’s what!

Finn definitely knew exactly what his fantasy dish was going to be when creating this sickly concoction.

Luckily for us, Finn decided to remove the burger pattie in place of 2 (yes, not just the 1) Mars bars, and sesame seeds on top of the bun with chocolate chips. Not entirely sure the cheese, salad and sauce will go, but hey, it’ll counteract the sugar quite nicely!

Chocolate Seafood Burger

Ah, another chocolate and burger combo; we’re starting to see a pattern here! Only this time, we can’t see ourselves attempting to make this, never mind actually eating it. Sorry Henry!

5 year old Henry has a love of seafood and chocolate, and what happens when you ask a child, with such an enormous imagination, to create their ultimate fantasy food? They combine their love of foods, regardless of what they are whether they’re meant to be eaten together.

Henry has gone for a pan au chocolat bun, with prawns, tomatoes, onions and lettuce. Oh yeah, and flies…

Pink Glitter Meatballs with Blue Pasta

Bethany has imagined up a pretty standard meal here, and it’s clear that she prefers how the food looks over its magical taste. For Bethany’s fantasy food, she’s chosen pink glitter meatballs and blue pasta.

Bethany also allowed us a little sneak peek at the rest of her meal, consisting of green soda and a glass of rainbow delight for dessert.

Note: if you’re going to make this at home, please use edible glitter.

Strawberry Pizza

Finn is back at it again with another strange fantasy food idea. This time, he’s gone for a type of dessert (we think!). Aside from the cheese and tomato sitting on top of the pizza base, Finn has gone for a strawberry and chocolate topping. This is the first fantasy food on our list that contains fruit! Well done, Finn!
