A movie I would highly recommend is the movie ‘ONCE’. The Daily Express says the film is “a movie that will warm your soul” whilst Word magazine stated “sit back with a grin on your face and let it’s wonder wash over you”. Glamour magazine said it was “worth seeing twice” whilst Empire said “Once has enough heart, wit, verve and songwriting genius to ensure you’ll see it far more times than it’s title suggests”.
I couldn’t agree more. I was introduced to this movie the Christmas before last and have watched it many times since. I have laughed, cried and sang at the same points, every single time. Set in Dublin, it’s a tale of a street musician and a young mother new to the city and how their lives and then musical passions entwine their lives to a wondrous ending. I defy anyone not to need tissues. Written and directed by John Carney, even the background commentary makes fabulous viewing. The actors/musicians are Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. Their music and albums I can also highly recommend. So if you want something a little different, watch this inspiring story. I absolutely adore it.
