Kimbra Johnson, known as Kimbra in the music industry, is a songwriter from New Zealand.
She started recording singles in 2005, and is working at present on her debut album Vows.
Her music is quirky, and full of different layers of sound and emotion. Her genre would be Soul, Alternative and Jazz.
I first heard about Kimbra quite recently through the website ‘Aurgasm’ and instantly was hooked on her. Her songs are like stories, the melodies are strung beautifully together and she makes strange and capturing music videos.
Kimbra has worked with other artists such as Miami Horror (‘I look to you’) and Goyte (‘Some body That I used to Know’).
Her album Vows was released 29th August 2011 in New Zealand and 2nd September 2011 in Australia.
If you wanted to check out some of Kimbra’s music, I would look at her single ‘Settle Down’. There’s a lovely variation of sounds, the lyrics are great and the video is very interesting. I listened to this song once and fell in love.
