Arguably, the hottest things in the tech world these days are Siri and Facebook. So Apple’s decision to focus on them with their new OS software is just another smart move in their history. They both scored big and will be continuing to have us all wrapped around their fingers. Here’s what you can expect from them when iOS 6 is released this fall:
Siri:
-The ability to launch and use apps, i.e., the ability to do more for users who want to do less
-Sport stats! I really like this. Siri can get scores, updates and most likely all things sports related quicker than we blink our eyes. I forsee this becoming a popular feature.
-Integration with Yelp, OpenTable and Rotten Tomatoes. The value of this is self explanatory. Win win for all parties.
-More languages. Another advantage Apple is giving itself as Android and other competitors try to keep up.
-Integration into car systems. Safety first– I’m calling it here: as the release of iOS 6 gets closer, endorsements from specific car brands will pour in. Should be interesting.
-And of course, Siri will be integrated onto the new iPad. That was to be expected.
Facebook:
Twitter got the endorsement with iOS 5, so it’s only natural that with iOS 6 it’s Facebook’s turn, especially now that it’s gone public.
With iOS 6, Facebook’s integration will make things easier for users. Connection to share anything via Facebook will be accessible from all apps, and all of a user’s friends contact information, as well as events and birthdays will be synched into Apple’s calendar app, etc. Simple but necessary in this day and age.
Already, iOS 6 is looking pretty nice. And that’s not even all of its notable features.
