I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Now it’s time to bring in the New Year! Whether you’re relaxing at home with a barrel of crisps and 12 litres of coke (yes, this is what I’ll be doing) or dancing until your feet throb, have a wonderful time and enjoy yourselves.
This song reached number 1 in 25 countries, which is an amazing achievement when you think about it. It was certified gold in the United Kingdom in 1986. The song began with simply the keyboard riff, which was written just for a laugh. The band liked it and decided to run with it, and write a song based around this riff.
The song has cult status, and is frequently used at sporting events and in pro-wrestling. It’s a triumph of the 80’s, and I defy anyone not to start jumping around to this song.
