Pinterest apps get more user friendly

pinterest update

Pinterest is very important to bloggers and we have seen our own page increase in followers dramatically in the last month. We have also noted that our second popular traffic source is now Pinterest. As such we are spending more time on the platform so the new update has got some important time savers for us.

What’s new

– You can now get push notifications so you never miss anything (I’ll be honest that’s a bit overkill as pinterest is addictive enough!) But I can see for many it will be valuable.
– Search is much better. Just start typing and you’ll start getting suggestions. Unlock more pins!
– You can now mention friends in your pins. This has also now been reinstated on the web version also. It’s great for when you find something you really NEED to share with someone, most of ours tend to be quotes or fantastic recipes.
– You can also invite people to your group boards throughout the app.

With e-marketer’s article on Facebook staying as the No 1 social network for users, I found it interesting to look at the difference in Facebook users activities on mobile devices.

Facebook users activities

It’s clear that apps are helping Facebook maintain their hold on being the No 1. Being able to use an app to do as much as you possibly can will inevitably make more people use it. Pinterest is perhaps ‘cashing’ in on this time and knowing that they their apps have been lacking some user friendly elements for a while.
