Some secrets can never stay hidden for long…
Six teenagers meet in Saturday detention: a brain, a beauty, a cheerleader, a rebel, a recluse and the new girl.
But someone is watching. Someone has made sure that they are all in the same room at the same time. Someone knows that each of them is hiding a terrible secret…
…and by the end of detention, everyone will know the truth.
Katlyn Duncan was born and raised in a small town in New England. Her overactive imagination involved invisible friends, wanting to be a Disney Princess and making up her own stories. Her bibliophile mom always encouraged her love of reading and that stayed with her ever since. Even though she works full time in the medical field Katlyn has always made time for books, whether she is reading or writing them.

Q&A
When did you decide to become a writer?
For me, there wasn’t a concrete “decision” to become a writer. I’ve always written whether it was movie scripts or short stories. I suppose I can say that I “felt” like an author when I published my debut novel, Soul Taken, in 2013 with Carina UK.
Do you try to set a number of words per day?
I do! That number depends on my current projects. Sometimes it can be between 2000-6000 words a day. This number has increased so much since I started freelancing, and it’s exciting to me that I can work out an entire novel in about a month. My quickest draft for a full-length novel was my first thriller, As You Lay Sleeping, and it took nearly a month to write the first complete draft of it. I look forward to beating that record in the future!
What struggles have you overcome as a writer?
I can’t say a day goes by that I don’t struggle with something, but I think I’ve managed to get over that some people will not like my books. Negative reviews can be hurtful, but once I understood that a reviewer is writing about the story and not me, I can brush off the hurt much easier and move on. Plus, it’s sometimes instructive to read criticism and learn from it.
Which famous person, living or dead, would you like to meet and why?
What a loaded question. While I try not to look at the past too much, I’d really love to sit down with Kelley Armstrong. I’m a huge fan of her books and would like to sit and chat with her someday!
What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Other than the obvious advice that you should read as much as possible, I suggest getting the first draft of your novel down. You can’t publish a blank page, so the first thing you need to do is get it all down. That in itself is an accomplishment.
