With most of the world being told to #StayAtHome I thought I would race through my book list but actually I found myself mostly distracted and unable to 
concentrate. Nearer the end of the month was much better and here’s what I read in March.
Books are in no particular order, just the way I wrote my list before typing this up 🙂
First up we have Flowers on her Grave by Jennifer Chase, this is the 3rd book of the Detective Katie Scott series. I hadn’t read the first two books but I had seen that it was still good as a standalone and it did not disappoint. It was easy to follow with a load of suspense throughout and I’m definitely going to read the first two soon. Also I really like that this has a strong female lead and crime stories are one of my faves to read.
I hope there will be more books in this series too.
I’d picked Monstrous Devices by Damien Love to review as I often think children’s fiction can be tricky. It can also be tricky to recommend good books for teenagers that are not the ones I used to read ‘back in the day’. This one is full of adventure and also science fiction too. Did I mention there were robots? For a debut book it’s great but some of the action does get it bit confused at times and some of the dialogue is quite advanced for a teenager at times but thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope there is more as I’d love to know more about his Grandad.
I’d compare it to Indiana Jones and I absolutely love the cover of it too!
I was intrigued by this new four part series by Bella Osborne of Meet Me at Pebble Beach. I was able to read part one ‘Out of the blue’ and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s set to be one of the summer reads for 2020.
As this is only the first part of the series, it’s really hard to not give too much away about the story. As a regular reader of Bella’s books I absolutely adore her stories and characters. This is absolutely the same with this one too.
Absolutely hooked on the story and can’t wait to read more. You can read these in separate novella form or you can wait and get the full copy at the end of May. I have included the pre-order link for that copy below.
I also got the chance to review the debut from Hayley Doyle ‘Never Saw You Coming’ and I loved the story. It did take a while to really get going and perhaps the beginning could have had some of the padding taken out but once it got really started (about 15-20% through) then I couldn’t put it down. I did feel the ending was a little rushed though.
If you love a fun rom-com then this is ideal for you! I’m looking forward to reading more from this author too.
Last up I read Melinda Leigh’s ‘Cross Her Heart’ which is the first story in the Bree Taggart series of books. I was immediately gripped from the start. I love a good strong female lead and this had one for sure with Bree.
It’s a very fast paced story but easy to follow too. At times it could really be imagined as to being on tv like many popular police and crime drama.
Bree already has a family history of tragedy and now she is investigating another murder of her sister. 
There was a lot in this first book but just the right amount of content and it didn’t feel overwhelmed. I have seen that the 2nd book is out later this year too so we won’t have to wait long to find out what’s in store next for Bree!
