Who says gaming is just for nerds?
Without a doubt, anyone who disagrees with that will be biting their tongue in the near future. Mark my words. Truly, though, the more we use mobile and digital media, the more consolidation we crave. The Internet has granted us that with its multimedia, just as the smartphone has does the same with 3G networks.
But it doesn’t end there.
Since its initial release in 2005, the Xbox 360 has made a name for itself as a gaming console that’s always ahead of its time. It just proved itself again– here are the highlights of its newest edition, which were presented by Microsoft at E3 2012 yesterday:
1- Internet Browsing
Internet Explorer and Bing will now be featured on the new 360. What’s more impressive is these apps will carry voice command features. It’s too early to tell how exactly these will work, but web browsing on a game console is very appealing. I like it.
2- Lots of Cable Networks
No, there won’t be as many channels as you receive now from your current cable provider, but who knows, one day that may no longer be the case. The new 360 is setting groundmarks, though, with the addition of NBA TV, NHL TV, and WatchESPN as well as content from Paramount, Nickelodeon, Machinima, and Univision. Pretty impressive.
3- Xbox Music
More details to come on this, but from the rumors I’ve read, Xbox music is said the be a competitor to Spotify. Hopefully, for Microsoft’s sake, it’s a revamped, better version of Zune. Only time will tell.
