1000th Post – Thank you all

On January 26th, 2011, I hit the publish button on our first post. And here we are, post number 1000, and my socks have literally been blown to shreds by the progress we have made in that time. From what started as a crazy idea with zero planning and absolutely no idea what I was doing, this website has blossomed and bloomed into what it is today, thanks to the hard work of many. So, I thought I’d use our 1000th post to say a few thank you’s to the people who deserve it the most.

I’ll start off with Sarah, who has the steadying voice to my sometimes erratic ideas. The amount of time, passion and dedication she has put into the site, during a time when she was expecting her first child and planning her wedding, is something that has been truly inspiring. He work ethic has at times put mine to shame, and without her help, I doubt we would have made it one hundred posts never mind a thousand. The whole DW team owes Sarah a big pat on the back as she truly is the life blood of the site, and the engine that keeps us all going.

Next I’ll move on to Kay, one of our writing team who has been with us since day one, and whose writing output has never fluctuated in the whole 19 months. She has been a rock when things were looking bleak, and has written some of the most fantastic articles the site has to offer. She has had her own writing demons to conquer, which she has faced head on, and always got the better of. Every time she submits an article it makes me proud she has a platform for her writing voice to be heard, so to speak.

That brings me onto the rest of the writing team, both past and present. I can’t believe how lucky we are to have some of you guys writing for us, as you are an amazingly talented bunch. You’ve put up with my constant nagging for articles in the early days to become a well oiled writing machine. You’ve never let the standard drop and I want to thank you all for that. I look forward to continuing to work with you all in the future.

That leaves thanking you, our readers, who we do all this for. Some of you have stuck with us through thick and thin and have had some lovely things to say to us on Twitter and via the comments sections of the articles. We hope you stick by us in the future as we continue to bring you the mixed bag of daily waffle from our writers.

Finally, I want to give a special thanks to my wife, Natalie, who has sacrificed a lot to allow me to pursue this project. Thanks for keeping me sane, understanding those days where I was buried in the computer and always had a reassuring word or two to say when things were looking bleak. You are truly a special one and I’m lucky to have you.

And that’s it from me. Thanks for reading, and thanks for being part of the Daily Waffle. Here’s to the next 1000…..
