It’s been over a decade since GTA V dropped and broke approximately every record imaginable. Now, finally — finally — GTA VI is real, it has a date, and it is actually happening this year. Here is every confirmed, rumoured, and leaked detail you need to know.

The Delay Saga, Explained
Let’s not pretend this has been a smooth ride. GTA VI has been delayed twice, and the gaming internet has not exactly been patient about it. Here’s how the timeline has looked:
- Original target: 2025 — The dream. The hope. The thing that did not happen.
- Delay #1: Pushed to May 2026 — Rockstar said they needed more time. Fans were disappointed but coped.
- Delay #2: Pushed to November 19, 2026 — Announced in November 2025. The internet had thoughts. Many, many thoughts.
- Now: November 19, 2026 — and it looks like it’s holding.
And here’s the interesting bit about those delays: reports suggest that during December 2025, voice actors were brought in to record around 35,000 additional lines of dialogue, reinstating cut content that Rockstar decided to add back in. The delays weren’t just about polish — they were about making the game bigger.
Where You’re Going & Who You’re Playing
GTA VI is set in Leonida — Rockstar’s take on Florida — with Vice City at the heart of it. Confirmed to be the largest GTA map ever built, it features dynamic NPC behaviour, a social media parody system, and an open world that apparently makes Red Dead Redemption 2 look modest.
You’ll play as two protagonists: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Lucia is a big deal — she’s the first playable female lead in the franchise’s entire history. Rockstar describes their story as a Bonnie and Clyde-style narrative: two people with the deck stacked against them, making increasingly questionable life choices in the Florida sun. We are so in.
Is It Actually Coming Out This Year?
Signs point to yes. April 1st marked the start of Rockstar’s fiscal year, and for the very first time since GTA VI was announced, the game sits inside it. Historically, delays have been announced before the fiscal year flips — and that did not happen this time.
A reliable Sony insider has also confirmed that both Sony and Microsoft have been formally notified by Take-Two that the game is on track with no planned delays at this stage. Pre-orders are expected to open between July and September, with a full marketing push — and a gameplay trailer — coming this summer.
What About PC?
PC players, you’re waiting. Based on Rockstar’s history, a PC release somewhere in 2027 or 2028 is the realistic expectation. Sorry about that.
After more than a decade and two delays, GTA VI is finally, genuinely, almost here. The date is holding, the hype is real, and we just need that gameplay trailer. November 19 cannot come soon enough.
