Supplements: Give your body that extra lift

Winter time tends to be a time where we naturally ‘hibernate’. The weather hampers outdoor activities and the sofa seems so much comfier. That, twinned with comfort foods, leads to a rather less fit and less healthy state (Not a wonder we succumb to winter infections). So, how do we try and beat the winter slump and prepare for a healthier spring and summer. Over the next few weeks the writers at the Daily Waffle will bring tips and advice to help us all ‘get up and go’.

When/what supplements are useful…..

A good multi-vitamin taken daily I find extremely useful over the winter. My personal favourite is one that suits my active lifestyle, so I take a daily complete multi-vitamins with minerals, probiotics, CoQ10 & ginseng. One tablet that compliments my diet and gives me everything I need. It helps unlock energy and sustain performance.

This helps me stay healthy whilst I get on with life in the fast lane. (other articles will take you off the fast lane and relax :D)

I have joint issues, so find taking triple omega 3-6-9 flaxseed starflower oil and evening primrose oil is excellent for this. Notably this combo is also known to support heart, brain and skin health (Evening primrose oil is also good for aiding good menstrual health).
As always, food supplements must not be used as a substitute for a varied balanced diet and a healthy diet. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medications, please consult you GP before taking complimentary medicine.

For advice on complimentary medicine companies like Holland and Barrett who specialise in this field have a website www.hollandandbarrett.com

Also you find health shops and chemists have a wealth of knowledge as to what’s good for your individual needs. Preparing your body is important, healthy mind, healthy body :D. Diet (healthy eating), exercise and relaxation makes a better you.
