To flirt or not to flirt??

To flirt or not to flirt?

Flirting is a playful, romantic or sexual overture by one person to another subtly indicating an interest in a deeper relationship with the other person, so says Wikipedia. It can involve verbal communication and body language. The question is we all do it or know those who do….. Is it good or bad?

When looking up if flirting’s good for our health I stumble upon a wealth of knowledge.

  • The sex appeal of flirting
  • Flirting and it’s health benefits
  • Flirting for health
  • Flirting styles
  • Flirting can be injurious to your health
  • Flirting and dating

Then of course, there are the varying dating sites I could join and flirt away to my hearts content :D. Or not…….

The thing with flirting is there are boundaries, self esteem issues and the ‘green-eyed monster’ to contend with. What one person considers harmless flirting another could interpret as slutty and threatening. Whereas some have the confidence to act in a flirtatious manner with whomever, another may not have the confidence, or doesn’t flirt because their partner wouldn’t like it or they wouldn’t like their partner flirting. Some flirt to raise their own self esteem and confidence, some don’t even realise they are flirtatious until it’s pointed out, others positively and actively flirt and enjoy it too.

What I also learnt is that if you and your partner are on the same page regarding flirting it can actually generate positive energy. As long as you leave the flirting at the door, the benefits from all the positive energy can spill into the bedroom ;D apparently flirting has taken a life all of it’s own and is associated with a bunch of great health benefits, one of which is adding that much needed zing to your sex life!

It’s a confidence booster and can make you feel more attractive…..

The biggest thing is boundary setting. Make sure you and your partner are clear about what’s ok when it comes to flirting. One simple rule of thumb: don’t say or do anything you wouldn’t do in the presence of your partner.

The problem with flirting also is if the recipient mis-interprets the ‘innocent’ flirting and takes it too far. Beware flirting if you can’t handle the response.

So to answer the question, to flirt or not to flirt…….it’s totally individual, so it’s totally up to you…….. 😀
