Diggnation is a weekly tech/web culture show based on the top digg.com social bookmarking news stories. This was my very first introduction to podcasts 🙂 and to Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht. I have my geeky husband to thank for introducing me to these guys.
What I love about the show is the camaraderie between Kevin and Alex. You just know whether together or separate you’ll have a blast.
The show is formatted in both audio and video. Their fondness of hosting from the sofa, beers adding to the hilarity. These guys are geeks extraordinaire 😀 but also appear so genuinely down to earth you can’t help but listen, even if, like me, at times they’re talking about stuff I don’t happen to Digg 🙂
The first episode ‘aired’ online in July 1st 2005. As described above the guys discuss various Digg stories from the previous week. Generally over beer, or tea (Kevin loves his tea) NB: The beer-testing is an integral part of the show, with some hilarious results depending on how much has been imbibed ;D The guys are intelligent, informative but also very funny (sometimes when they don’t mean to be) they love to see what people Digg and discuss the rise and fall of what’s popular at that time.
The shows won many awards from 2006-2010 from podcast awards to Streamy awards
