I love word games and I love any game that flex’s the old imagination muscle. So when I was recommended by a friend to download Prose with Bros I was a little dubious. At first, I thought it sounded like a blatant rip-off of one of my other favourite iOS games, Words with Friends, but I was surprisingly proven wrong.
The aim of the game is to make an eligible sentence or sentences using a pre-chosen (by the game) set of words. These are a total mixed bag of utter randomness, often making little sense until you have a re-order on the virtual magnet board. Once you have completed your masterpiece of literary genius, you post your effort to the world and go one-on-one with an (random) opponent. Your game is available online for the next 12 hours as other game players vote for whose compilation they prefer, yours or your opponents. After the 12 hours is up, the person with the most votes wins! Its as simple as that.
I found this game to be not only challenging, but funny too, as some of the sentences posted online are genuinely hilarious. I find that the key to the game is to make sure you find the right balance between silly and ineligible, as bad prose is frowned upon by the voting community. So all in all, a thoroughly enjoyable game, well worth the £1.49 price tag and I’ll give is 4.5/5
