You can’t beat a good horror movie when its done right. The type of movie that leaves you screaming like a teenage girl in the cinema and covering everyone three rows behind in popcorn. Now whether or not The Possession by Ole Bornedal is one of them, I don’t know, but it looked pretty good from the trailer (as you’ll see for yourself). Produced by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead) and staring Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen), Kyra Sedgwick (Phenomenon) and Natasha Calis (The Firm – TV), The Possession is about a young girl (Calis) who gets possessed by a demon after opening a box they purchased from an antique fair. You know, it’s happened to us all, we think we’ve found something worth a few bob and its turned out to contain the evil spirit of a long trapped demon. Anyway, the father (Morgan) and his ex-wife (Sedgwick) try everything they can to free their daughter from the curse. Scary gapes and thrills and spills occur, hopefully with some head-spinning and projectile vomiting for nostalgia sake. If you aren’t in to horror films then this probably isn’t going to be your cup of tea, otherwise, it looks well worth a watch.
