When it comes to playing games on my phone, I’m not a fan of platforms or first person shooters. I like a good puzzle game that will get my brain juices flowing and make you use the big muscle in my skull. One of the best puzzle games I’ve played in a long time is Doodle God, and its successor, Doodle Devil.
Doodle God is a brain-flexing puzzler in which you play the part of Doodle God. The aim of the game is to match elements together to make a reaction and create further elements, until you complete the full set. The elements start off with things like Fire, Water, Air and Earth. The reactions you get from these are pretty obvious, like matching fire and earth to get lava. That is where the sensible reactions end though as you’ll soon be matching crazy elements and gaining random elements in return. Except its not totally random, and there is a lot of thought behind the matching in the later rounds. This outside-the-box thinking is the charm behind this beautifully designed and well thought out game.
When you have completed the magic that is Doodle God, you can move onto Doodle Devil, which is the follow up game. The premise is the same, match elements to gain reactions and create other elements. The twist this time though is that you are playing from the perspective of Doodle Devil, which means two elements that reacted in the first game might not react in this one, or create something positively evil!
The only downside to Doodle Devil at the moment is its quite short, as the developers release further stages down the line. This is obviously a temporary measure so I wouldn’t let it put you off downloading this little beauty of a game. Both of them are really good puzzlers and Doodle God should keep you busy for hours upon hours.
