It’s only taken, oh about 20+ years and a lot of trial and error but I’ve finally know how to maintain, style and love my hair.
So my hair is naturally curly and for years I hated it and went a bit crazy with the hair straighteners which inevitably damaged my hair, now I love my curls and barely use my GHDs anymore. So what I’m trying to say is that we all should just embrace what we were given and learn to work with it not against it.
You name a shampoo or conditioner, I’ve tried it. The same goes for hairsprays, serums, curling products, straightening products, hair dyes…everything.
I don’t pay to have my hair dyed anymore, even when I was a hairdresser I never did. I think you’re really only paying for the service so if I can save time and LOTS of money why shouldn’t I?Now that’s just my opinion. My go to hair dye is any of the Clairol Nice ‘n Easy auburn shades. They work amazingly well, are so easy to use, the colour never fades and they don’t damage my hair. Win!
For a long time I thought I had a really sensitive scalp so I only used Head&Shoulders but what I didn’t realise was that it was the reason my hair was so dry. I use Herbal Essences now and just kinda go for whichever smells nice when I’m shopping. Once my scalp kinda got used to the change I had no sensitivity issues and now my hair is soooo much softer and it’s actually shiny for like the first time ever!
Serums…they’re kinda all the same, trust me I know. I buy whichever is on special offer and use a small amount through my hair and more on the ends of my hair to protect them.
Dry Shampoo… How come I never knew about this stuff before?! It’s amazing if you want to get a couple extra days out of your style but it’s also a great volumiser. I like the Batiste stuff in the pink tin, it smells yummy.
L’Oréal Elnett Satin Hairspray, it really is the best hairspray ever.
It works great for everyday use, to seal in curls or a big puffy style and you can’t beat the price tag. Plus I love that it doesn’t give your hair that hard sticky look or feel.
I think if there’s one thing you’re going to spend money on it should be a decent hairbrush.
I have an Aveda wooden paddle brush it’s amazing for detangling and has extended bristles that stimulate and massage the scalp. It also reduces stress to hair and scalp during blow-drying and styling.
Once you have a good hairbrush you’re so gonna notice such a difference with your hair.
Like I said before this is just my stuff, my opinion, if you like something and it works for your hair then use it.
Just work with what you have, it’s fabulous, you’re fabulous!
