The music video for this song is really well done and enjoyable. I like the idea of just playing people this song and seeing how they react. They are various versions avaialble of this video, shot in different locations and using different local people.
Cake (formed in California in 1991) are a bit of a weird one because they seem to split feeling down the middle for both music fans and critics alike. Some really adore their quirkiness and they certainly do have a way with lyrics. Others find the deadpan delivery a bit much and don’t feel the group has any specifically talented musicians. I have only ever heard this song by Cake, so I really can’t say.
I told my friend, who did not inform me who Cake were, that if this wasn’t Beck I was a tin a peas. I am now adjusting to life as a tin of peas.
