The best gift a traveler can give to adventurers like him is to land them the tools for staying connected wherever they are. And this is exactly what the travel blogger and adventurer Anil Polat has provided for people like him with a little help from his computer security engineering background.
Anil Polat has created an app for Android and iOS devices that use Google Maps to map WiFi passwords of airports all around the world to allow foreign travelers feel like home wherever they are. The app he decided to call WiFox has an user-generating option that has expanded the initial number of supported airports of 80 to 200 and growing.
As Anil explains in a blog post, the user-provided information is reviewed for reliability before appearing on the map and it comes with a feedback system that allows users to send information to the WiFi passwords. Either they still remain to be the same as listed on the app or they have been changed. The app has a HotSpot information feature that shows Airport name, network name, network password, the location within the airport where the signal is at its best and third-party WiFi passwords from surrounding businesses, such as restaurants or clubs. The app also tells when the airports have a time-limit over the use of their free Wireless connectivity and its maker has released another blog post about how to extend this time limit to unlimited in case you need to stay more connected.
If you’re a traveler planning your trip to U.K and staying connected is something of matter for you, landing to London’s Luton Airport will give you unlimited free Internet access but if you land in Heathrow Airport you will have airport’s own WiFi network and the password of the nearby Admiral Club WiFi network which is HAVANA2016.
