How to personalise your office space

Your work life is just as important as your home life so before you settle into a routine, be sure to personalise your space so that you feel comfortable getting on with the daily grind. Here are some fun ideas to personalise your space to make it feel just like home.

1. Furniture Choices

Face it, we all want our offices to resemble our homes and fashion tastes. We all have specific furniture that we adore and wish we could bring to comfort us during the busy hours of work. Invest in different furniture materials, such as Metal, Felt or Oak Furniture that will give your office either that elegant, high end or rustic feel. Not only will this make you feel comfortable when working, but it can also make co-workers, guests or potential interviewees feel more at home too.

2. Personalise your desk

If your desk is filled with nothing but files, then you won’t be that motivated in getting settled into your workspace. Try and plant some appealing objects on your table, such as a vase of flowers, photos of your loved ones or even fun stationary or notebooks. Get creative with this and find a matching palette for your objects, or even splash some colour into your desk by buying bright and fun looking stationary. The choice is up to your personality and personal vision.

3. Sweetie Boxes

This is for the cheeky few who would adore a little box full of sweets or trinkets. It can be easy to find a box, simply invest in a makeup box or ashtray that can be filled to the brim with goodies. You can even offer them to your co-workers if you feel generous. For the more serious workers, these boxes can be made into stationery boxes to be filled with paper clips, holders, sharpeners and very small pens and pencils or sticky notes.

4. Ergonomics and Space

If your office is quite small, don’t feel as if you must be confined to it. Your employer should understand the ergonomics of his work team, and thusly, understand how to bring out the best in them. Whether this is by taking long walks or stretching your legs, your office needs to be a positive environment. If it confines you by being too small, then try and make its design as minimalistic as possible. Make the walls white and hang portraits on them for that personal feel. If there is a window, make sure to keep it open to let in any natural light. This will make your room feel bigger because of the white walls. Don’t allow the room to get too cluttered. If you feel as if you are side-stepping through different articles of furniture, then you may need to get rid of a few items or donate them to a charity. By having a simple environment then you can feel as if you are practically working outside in a spacious and comfortable area.
