Does having branded workwear make a difference?

Seeing a company’s logo on the uniform of its employees are very common, in fact in the modern age we expect it. In this article we will be looking at the key benefits of personalised clothing for employees, and why would you want to add your company logo to a polo shirt or t-shirt.

But before we start let’s take a look why we wear a uniform…

Wearing a uniform at work
As long as we can remember employees from construction workers to waiters have been wearing a uniform when working for company. The reasons for wearing these are vastly different but the one point that stands out in all industries is representation. Representation is a major part of working for a company, when employed by a firm you quickly become a client facing employee, meaning you regularly get seen by the general public, whether communicating with them or not.

How would someone known who you was without having this symbol displayed on you?

Without having this symbol (company logo) on your clothing you can easily blend in with the public and will not have that representation. The two examples I will give of this are the construction industry and the restaurant industry. Imagine looking for someone to take your order at a restaurant and not finding someone because no one stands out, due to not having that brand on their shirt? This would cause great confusion.

When working on a construction site, depending on site you will find more than one company working on the same project, how would you know who works for who without that brand on the back of their Hi Vis vest?

So what are the other reasons?
Other reasons for wearing a uniform are mostly for the benefit of the company’s brand awareness, whether you have 2 employees or 200, your employees are walking adverts. Say your employee gets public transport into work imagine how many people they walk past every day? A walking advert!

Side track to employee satisfaction for a minute, if your employee is happy they work for a company as great as yours why on earth wouldn’t they also be a walking salesman?

Here is an example, an employee walks pasts a member of the public, and they stop and ask your employee who they work for because they recognize your brand, your employee then reals off how great your brand is.

Isn’t that the best way of doing sales? A potential customer who is interested in your brand and a completely genuine person explains how great your company is.

Where shall I put my logo?
The most common place is the left breast of a t-shirt or polo shirt, this isn’t just down to looks, and goes much deeper. The left breast symbolises the heart, here is the company I work for and it’s close to my heart.

Alternatives are the right breast if the left breast has a pocket, sleeves are a great choice too, allows you to get noticed for the side.

Many companies also now choose to have a larger message on the back of the workwear, this is good because more people would look at your employees from behind. And because of the larger open space you can have a much larger message, perhaps not just your brand but a message about what you do.

Where can I get my hands on some uniform for my staff?
There are a bunch of great companies out there that can provide high quality workwear at a low price, however I would always choose carefully.  Reviews, advice and quality are the three main points to look for when it comes to personalised clothing, choose well, choose once.
