These are tips that we’ve put together from our own wedding experiences, hopefully they will help you all to have a beautiful day.
1. Have your hen/stag night the week before
Don’t arrange these for the night before your wedding. Give yourself enough time to recover and this also means that you won’t feel rubbish on the morning of your wedding.
2. Make sure you have enough time to get ready
Have a run-through of getting ready, especially how long it takes to do your hair. Make sure you have enough time and that you’re not rushing about in the morning. Enjoy your day!
3. Plan the day – allocate jobs
Some people choose to hire a wedding co-ordinator but sometimes you can just allocate jobs to people throughout. Bridesmaids and Groomsmen can help with this, just make sure they all understand their duties. You can use the confetti shop for ideas on planning the day.
4. Wear a dressing gown getting ready
Brides and bridesmaids don’t wear a top that needs to go over your head when you are having your makeup and hair to do. Using a dressing gown on a dress shirt is the best way so you don’t mess up your hair.
5. Wear those shoes ‘in’
Make sure your new shoes for the day have been broken in properly. Wear them for a couple of weeks before the day, these includes the groom and groomsmen. You can switch to flat shoes if you want to as the day goes on.
6. Don’t overdo the alcohol
You should enjoy your day and whilst we’re not saying don’t have any alcohol. Don’t overload on it as you want to remember your day. Keep topped up with water though, especially for all the late night dancing.
7. Arrange for group photos
Obviously remember the important family photos that you want. Also remember that if there are any other ‘group’ photos that this is organised – mainly so that someone else can remind you. This might be a task you pass along to your bridal party. You might want photos of you with your work colleagues, or school friends etc.
8. Have some selfies
Obviously don’t stay on your phone all day but selfies are fun. Be sure to take some! You can also make a # so that your guests can tag the photos that they take on Instagram.
9. Give the DJ or band a list of songs that you want
So many times you can ask for a song in the middle of a party and they just won’t have it. Give your entertainment a list of the necessity songs.
10. Have at least 5 minutes to eat your dinner with your new spouse
You’ll be surprised how much of the day is taken away from your new spouse so try to claim back some time. When you get that time to sit down for your meal, use this at couple time. You can share your best moments of the day as you sit together.
Our other bonus tip is to take some time to “take it all in”. Have a look around at everyone else enjoying your day and how that makes you feel.
