It’s been a mad few weeks for rumours around Real Madrid since Zinedine Zidane returned. We have already talked about the rumours linking Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu. But Kylian Mbappe is another name that is frequently linked but apparently that transfer is off before it even started. Possibly price, possibly Mbappe does not want to leave PSG.
Real Madrid need a replacement for losing Cristiano Ronaldo last summer to Juventus, a lot of hope was focused onto Gareth Bale stepping up but so far that’s not been the case. The link with Mbappe had increased because French media had obviously linked the French striker with wanting to play for Zidane. Any deal would be sure to be a world record deal too – how much do Madrid want him?
If Mbappe is indeed not leaving PSG, then Real Madrid will have to focus their attention elsewhere. We’ve mentioned Eden Hazard but another Premier League star has frequently been linked, Sadio Mane. Obviously Liverpool are going head to head with Manchester City at the moment for the PL title and I’m sure Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t want to lose Mane in the summer. There is also the subject of distracting a player as they coe to the ‘business end of the season’. I don’t think this would apply but Mane has been crucial for Liverpool this season. I’ve been disappointed myself in Mo Salah this season and he doesn’t look like the same player. Maybe this international break will have given him a needed rest.
A deal for Sane would be easier to pull off than for Eden Hazard, as Chelsea’s impending transfer ban could complicate matters. Chelsea Defender Andreas Christensen shed some light on the Premier League club’s stance, insisting: ‘The messages we have received are that Chelsea cannot appeal the case and therefore want to keep all the players.’ Hmm, tricky!
At the moment of the three it looks like the order of a transfer being possibly, dependent on Liverpool’s stance would be Mane, Mbappe and Hazard. Realistically that should worry the fans of all their clubs, they all would miss their star.
Imagine if you could get all three? Ok. Stop. That’s Fantasy Football and not real.
