Tottenham v Ajax Preview (Champions League)

Tonight sees the first of the semi finals of the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League. The first leg tonight is Tottenham and Ajax at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the second leg next week. Tomorrow night sees Liverpool play Barcelona. This is probably my favourite round as you don’t have to choose which game to watch on the same evening!

There is no Harry Kane for Tottenham tonight and Son Heung-Min is suspended so Lucas Moura will lead the attack tonight. Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli will be there in support too. Serge Aurier and Harry Winks are also definitely out but Moussa Sissoko and Jan Vertonghen have trained this week. Tottenham lost their first match at their new ground on Saturday to West Ham and will be hoping to bounce back against Ajax.

Carel Eiting is the only Ajax injury concern. The Dutch FA postoned the weekend’s games so that Ajax could prepare so they should be well rested. Ajax come into this match on the back of an eight-match unbeaten run – including their 1-1 draw with Juventus. Ajax have only lost one of their last 15 matches. It will be good to see some former Premier League players in the Ajax side too, Daley Blind (Manchester United) and Dusan Tadic (Southampton).

Prediction: Tottenham 2 Ajax 1.
