Last night saw the first of the semi finals of the 2018/19 Champions League with Ajax taking a 1-0 lead in the first leg against Tottenham. Tonight sees Barcelona and Liverpool vying for their place in the final.
Barcelona have outs and doubts to Rafinha, Jean-Clair Todibo, Thomas Vermaelen, Jeison Murillo and Kevin-Prince Boateng. Liverpool come into it with only two injury outs/doubts with Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino. Although it seems that perhaps Firminho may have trained this week so he could feature.
Barcelona are now confirmed as Champions in Spain, their victory over Levante at the weekend crowned them. So now they come into this game on the back of a great high but know that this is the leg of this tie that could really seal the deal for them. Liverpool have really made Anfield a fortress and Barcelona will struggle to score there so they need to come away from Camp Nou with a result.
Liverpool of course have Virgil Van Dijk at the back keeping the defense tight, Mo Salah may take headlines but we all know that it is Sadio Mane that is really the star player for the reds this season. Barcelona of course have Lionel Messi but that shouldn’t be where the plaudits end for them either. They have others too and that is often missed because of their star no 10. Former reds Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez are there too and of course Ivan Rakitic. My favourite is Arthur Melo, he’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
It will be an interesting tie for sure and I think it could be tight.
Prediction: Barcelona 1 Liverpool 2
