With Manchester City and Liverpool taking the Premier League title race into the last game of the season on Sunday, matters turn back to the Champions League. Barcelona lead the tie with Liverpool 3-0 and it seems like a mammoth task to overcome but the game is at Anfield.
Liverpool have made comebacks before, who can forget the 3-0 deficit they found themselves in the 2005 Champions League final at half time? But Liverpool need to play clever with this one, conceding another goal would need them to score 5 to overcome Barcelona’s lead (and on away goals).
Liverpool have the ability to overcome teams at Anfield, the crowd pays such an important part of making it a fortress. They have ripped teams apart before, Manchester City and Roma spring to mind when they had bursts of goals which made the opposition look ordinary compared to them. Of course, Liverpool have injury problems with no Mo Salah for this one after his head injury against Newcastle on Saturday. It looks likely also that Roberto Firmino will miss out too.
Of course, Barcelona are tricky opponents and especially with Lionel Messi in their team too. Liverpool need to play as much of the 90 minutes in the Barcelona half as possible to try to keep him as far away as possible from scoring more.
I don’t think that Liverpool will have enough to overcome the lead that Barcelona have BUT it’s set to be some game tonight.
