How to mindfully reorganise a room and create an inspiring space

When it comes to your house, it needs to ultimately be a reflection of your character. Not every home has to be a generic space with pastel wallpaper and a dull coloured carpet. Instead, you should consider whether or not it is time to reorganise your rooms. Everyone changes, which is why you need to change up rooms to create a more inspiring space. So, take our advice and use these tips to help you create a wonderful living space that will leave you feeling like you practically live in a brand-new home.

Keep necessary furniture

If you’re considering rearranging your room, it can be tempting to literally start from scratch. That includes repainting the room and even selling all of the furniture in it! Avoid this temptation and instead start with what you have, aka, the necessary furniture. This includes chairs, beds, wardrobes, dressers, tables, etc. If you end up using more than what you already have in the room then this can make the room look pretty messy. Start off with the basics when reorganising your room and you will find that it will end up making the room more spacious and less cramped.

Cleaning

Of course, when it comes to reorganising any room in your house, you need to make sure that the room is clean first. You can’t work with a dirty canvas, so don’t be afraid to take your time rearranging your furniture so that you can clean the floors, walls, furniture and space itself. Rearranging, organizing and cleaning tend to all fall under the same project, so it may take some time to actually get the place looking spotless before you can start adding any new furniture.

Clutter

One of the main problems when it comes to organising your room is to consider where you’re going to put all of the clutter and mess. There are some things that you just don’t want to throw out. Well, the good news is that you don’t have to. Instead, consider using a different space to create some storage. You may have a loft from Instaloft or a basement that is the perfect place to put away your old treasures in boxes and cupboards.  That way you can be left with the main articles of furniture in your room. Better yet, you can buy new furniture and keep the old articles in your storage space as extras, or perhaps to even give away to friends and family if they need them.

Sketch it out

Whether you are organising your workspace/study, living room or bedroom, it’s important to have a plan in mind before you make any drastic changes. You don’t have to be the perfect artist, but if you create a small sketch of the room you want to end up with, this may keep you on track when it comes to designing your new space. Of course, your plan might change as you continue with reorganising the room, but this is perfectly normal. Feel free to experiment as much as you like!
