Disney Plus will be increasing their streaming service prices on the 23rd February. The Disney Plus price increase was a surprise as I only recently found out about it and have been using the service since it launched last year. The monthly subscription was £5.99 and will go up to £7.99 and the annual subscription was £59.99 to £79.99. Existing subscribers will continue to pay the £5.99 price until the 23rd of August – that’s me! Existing annual subscribers will stick at the £59.99 price until the subscriber’s first bill after 22nd August 2021.
The price increase is definitely a surprise so soon after the launch. There is a lot of new programmes and films coming to the service this month, During the past year and being inside more and needing more entertainment, wholesome Disney classics were an obvious choice, Star Wars and Marvel are also big choices in my house so this is probably our most used streaming service for all the family.
But that said, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try and save money on something you feel is worth it and you enjoy. Let’s save some money!
Avoid the Disney Plus price increase
You can sign up the Disney Plus annual subscription through Quidco and you can get £10 cashback.

- Search for Disney+ on Quidco and click ‘Get cashback’. This will take you to the Disney Plus homepage.
- Sign up as normal for a Disney Plus annual subscription
- Quidco will then process your purchase and £10 cashback will be pending in your account
- Once Quidco have approved your transaction you will be able to withdraw that £10 back to your account. Yes!
What is there to watch on Disney Plus?
With the price increase being a bit of a surprise, there is a lot of new content coming to Disney Plus too. My family loves it and there really is something for everyone. I absolutely love that there are some of my favourite 90’s movies on there including Never Been Kissed, Three Men and a Baby.
Then there is Disney Plus Star Originals.
Disney Plus Star Originals – what is this?
I’ve said that there is a lot for all ages but they are adding more programmes and films under ‘Star Originals’. The new addition to the platform from the 23rd February coincides with the date of the price increase.
I will enjoy watching Grey’s Anatomy, 24, Prison Break, Desperate Housewives, Scandal and others over again. Plus a whole load of films from Good Morning Vietnam to Moulin Rouge. There is a load more stuff and to be honest the price increase does seem justified. I’m looking forward to having a bit more choice but all within one app!
