We’ve all had bad days, we’ve all had those days where you just cannot wait to get back home. These tips will help you to feel better so let’s look through our list.

9 things to do to Unwind after a Stressful Day

Eat comfort food

Whenever I feel stressed or just need something to make me feel so much better – best way is through soul food. The food that makes me feel better, mashed potatoes, macaroni cheese, pizza. Something that makes my tummy feel warm and my soul feels happy. Or the best way is to order food in.

Light candles

Getting home and making the home feel happy and lighting some scented candles just instantly calms me down. Every time I light a candle and I concentrate on each candle, I can feel that my stress is being forgotten about and my shoulders relax. It also helps set the mood for one of our later tips (Spa Night).

Get comfy

Getting out of your work clothes when you get home is another way of relaxing after a long day. Pyjamas as soon as I get in is a popular idea!

Spa Night

Having a pamper or spa night can be so relaxing and planning what you want to do is a great way to distract yourself. It’s a great excuse to try a different nail colour – be daring! With those candles lit, you’ll already be starting to feel more relaxed and ready to just forget about the day. For an even more luxurious experience, you might want to check out the Premium Swim Spas in Clarksville, perfect for a soothing soak or a refreshing dip right in the comfort of your home.

Play Games

I’ve always had a soft spot or slight addiction to a little bit of gaming! I find it really does de-stress me and make me feel so much better. It’s a great way to pass some time or distract me. Recently I’ve got back into playing Solitaire and Mahjong regularly.

They are just so easy to pick up and start playing. After a stressful day it’s just easy to pick up my iPhone or iPad and play them, sometimes on my journey home depending on how I am getting home. I’ll probably play either Solitaire or Mahjong at least five times a day or up until I have beaten the level. I like to think I am doing a little brain training as well as gaming!

Favourite Film and Snacks

We’ve all got a favourite film for different moods. I find myself watching films like Sweet Home Alabama or You’ve Got Mail. Then add in my favourite snacks and I’m all set.

Meet Friends (dinner, cinema)

Getting back outside the house after a stressful day is another great idea! Changing your clothes and deciding you don’t want to spend the night indoors and you arrange plans to meet up with friends. Maybe you will have started to arrange the night whilst you’ve been stressed at work, this will have helped you to stay distracted a little form the stress and given you something to focus on. Plan a dinner out at your favourite restaurant or check out the latest new film at the cinema.

Let it out (talk to spouse)

Everyone says it’s good to talk. This is no exception. Sharing your thoughts about your day with others will help to put it firmly in the past. I’ve found it to be good to write it all down, if there are problems that keep recurring then you need to address them and this way you’ll have evidence for how you are dealing with it or want to deal with it.
