It Ends with Us is a romantic drama film based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same name. The story follows Lily Bloom, a young woman who moves to Boston to pursue her dream of opening a flower shop. She quickly falls for Ryle Kincaid, a charming neurosurgeon. However, as their relationship deepens, Lily begins to see darker sides of Ryle, reminiscent of her own abusive childhood. The arrival of Atlas, her first love, complicates matters further, forcing Lily to confront her past and make difficult choices about her future.

My It Ends With Us Review
I should start my review of the film by saying that I read the book and although I loved the book – it had tough topics like domestic violence that read made me gasp and feel shocked. The film failed in that way, it’s hard to see dv on a bigger screen and made to be downplayed. The marketing of the film then also missed the mark, the trailer itself doesn’t give the audience a clue – it doesn’t even warn those who might find the subject matter alarming.
It Ends With Us got cast with people older than I expected from my imaginings in the book but Colleen Hoover explained that she didn’t know how much studying it took to be a neurosurgeon so Justin Baldoni was the right age. The rest of the cast are accordingly cast and there’s a real mix here. For what the film lacks in story time – there was so much of the book to be played out here and other parts were drawn out for no reason and added nothing to the plot.
The cinematography was exquisite and highlighted the colourful aspects of this movie and the soundtrack alone could have really taken over a lot of the lines of the movie. It’s a stunning soundtrack to the movie and is just really well put together.
As well as the film’s marketing, news around the film and the possible ongoing feuds have really pushed the film into a certain negative attitude. Nothing has really been cleared until Brandon Sklenar took to his instagram to view his thoughts.
I also ADORED Lily’s outfits. Very autumnal.
