Have you ever noticed the striking similarities that life as a human has to life as a golf ball? As odd as it may sound, there are quite a few aspects of each that are emulated by the other. Although I seriously doubt that a golf ball can be used as some sort of Voodoo Doll, the ball and you share a common existence.
Polished and Ready to Fly – Since its creation, many people play a part in polishing and inspecting the golf ball to ensure that it’s ready to hit the course. When you were a baby, everyone did their part to do the same. Tests, pokes, prods and further polishing of your intellect prepares you to tee-off in your own world. With the sun shining on your shell made of skin, you’re ready for that first blast along the fairway.
Tangled in the Rough – It’s quite difficult to keep your golf ball out of the rough 100-percent of the time. For beginners, the rough seems to be a common location. The same can be said in your life. Although it’s your intention to remain in the fairway, sometimes circumstances can bump you a few yards off course and toss you in the rough. Since complaining won’t be able to get you back on the fairway, all you can really do is play the location your dealt and get back on the course.
Onto the Green – The end result of driving down the fairway is to get your golf ball on the green to secure success. Regardless if this requires a chip or a full swing with a nine-iron, it takes focus to exact enough power to make sure you don’t overshoot the green. In your life, your goals are right in front of you and easily reachable. Being overzealous could cause you to fail from over exaggerating what is needed. However, too timid of an attempt could leave you short of your goal causing you to continue the attempt repeatedly.
Into the Cup – Even though the green may be wavy with alternative flows of geographical imperfections, you can accomplish the put by researching the terrain and knowing your own strength to sink the golf ball into the cup. By knowing your surroundings and having faith in yourself, you too can succeed at your goals in order to score better than par at the game of life.
Splitting Your Shell – As time marches on and you’ve completed as many course as you can, the inevitable happens. With one last stroke, your inner core sheds its outer shell which allows it to roam free. You and the golf ball now exist as modifications of what you both were in life. Of course if you believe in reincarnation, then the golf ball’s core can be recycled and turned into another unique golf ball. Or, you and the core can be laid to rest alongside other discarded shells.
People look at life differently with their own analogies of the process. Sometimes, these analogies help people further understand the human species and why we are the way we are. It is a method to engage someone on a level that helps solidify a point that the individual is trying to make. Whether you look at life like a golf ball or as the cup, it’s a wondrous ride to behold.
