New data has revealed the private sector companies currently attracting the most attention from British jobseekers.
The research, conducted by Outplayed – a platform that also offers side hustle ideas – analysed monthly Google search volumes for terms including ‘[company name] jobs’ and ‘[company name] careers’ to determine which employers are generating the most interest across the UK.
The results paint a clear picture of the sectors resonating most with jobseekers – and supermarkets are firmly in the spotlight. In fact, eight of the ten most searched-for employers are established grocery shops and dominate the rankings.
Leading the pack by a significant margin is Tesco, with an impressive combined monthly average of 217,000 searches for jobs and career opportunities. This includes 106,000 searches for “Tesco jobs” and a further 111,000 for “Tesco careers,” making it the most sought-after employer in the country by a clear distance.
Asda comes in second, generating a total of 94,000 searches per month, followed by Sainsbury’s and Aldi, with 66,000 and 65,000 respectively. The continued interest in supermarket roles highlights the perceived stability, accessibility, and variety of roles on offer in the retail sector.

| 3 | Sainsbury’s | 66,000 |

Although retail clearly dominates, some non-supermarket companies still feature prominently. Amazon ranks fifth overall with 60,400 monthly searches, followed closely by Royal Mail with 59,800. These figures suggest that large-scale logistics and delivery services continue to appeal to a wide range of jobseekers whether it be in a full-time role or perhaps for one of many options relating to side hustle ideas.
The dominance of supermarkets and delivery services in the top ten hints at broader trends in the UK job market. Convenience, flexible hours, and steady demand for frontline roles may be driving this heightened interest. Additionally, the recognisability of these brands likely contributes to higher search volumes.
As jobseekers continue to navigate an evolving employment landscape in 2025, it’s clear that tried-and-tested employers with strong reputations remain firmly in demand.
