The Oscars: Travesties and Beyond….

The internet is saturated with all of our favourite stars in their finery from The Oscars.

Am I the only one who thinks the majority, if not all the gown picks were a little on the safe side?

Of course, there were some who stood out for the best of reasons and then….. the ones who stood out for the not so great reasons.

I have to kick off with how not to ”do” colour on the red carpet and this one goes to Michelle Williams whom I normally look forward to seeing

Is it red? Is it sorbet red? Is it coral?

NO!!!

It’s a wishy washy in between shade that does absolutely nothing for her. It’s a shame really, with such a bold haircut and her milky complexion I feel she’s wasted a chance here. I’m more than a little disappointed that Michelle didn’t nod to Marylin Monroe style wise here considering she was a nominee for her role in My Week With Marylin.

If you are going to do either Coral or Red then DO EITHER. Not somewhere in between!

Claire Danes managed the muted coral red very well.

And the beautiful Emma Stone won out with her properly red red gown from designer Giambattista Valli.

Take note! This is how to do an Oscar worthy red gown!

Another big colour of the night was gold.

Again, some did it well and others :S not so much…

Meryl Streep for me, didn’t carry it off quite so well… the glitter shimmer effect isn’t fantastic and the draping simply looks ill-fitting in my opinion.

Saving the gold gown with her Marchesa Gown was my all time favourite WWE wrestling Diva Alumni Stacy Keibler who was on the arm of George Clooney (power house couple right there!)

STUNNING!!!

But! The winner in the battle of the gold gowns has to be, without a doubt….

Jessica Chastain who normally plays it quite safe stepped out in this showstopping Alexander McQueen gown. I’m always so happy to see McQueens‘ creations.

So with all of those well thought out reviews it’s onto the fun part. Or, if you’re the celebrity in question, the ”should I sack my stylist” section.

To start off

The ”Why Did You Bother” Category

So we have a bra on display, a terrible purple creation and some kind of bluey grey dress…

Good Work Folks :S

The ”Should Know Better” Category

Oh dear! Cameron and Sandra are seasoned attendees of red carpet affairs so one has to wonder why on earth they seemed to throw their hands up here…

I couldn’t NOT say anything about the utterly bizare posing behaviour that went on last night…

I don’t know who I should start on first.. Versace for promoting such a shapeless dress that is incredibly ill fitting (or so it seems) or Angelina herself. What is with the leg placement!? I swear in EVERY shot I’ve seen and even on the red carpet last night she was at it constantly. Now, a stance like this is ok if you’re say… Jessica Rabbit, but not if you don’t have the curves to support it. Such a shame as Angelina had been ticking all my boxes so far this award season.

And so we come to the end of our review of last nights fashion wins and fashion travesties, I had to leave you with my WTF’s really didn’t I!?

Yes, I know, it all looks safe enough doesn’t it? Well, look a little closer.

My WTF awards go to the little people. They were a constant source of amusement for me last night.

This guy?

A purple dicky bow WTF!? I think I love it though 😉

I feel I need to prepare you for the next WTF, take a deep breath… After all the satin, lace, embellishments, diamonds etc etc we had someone rock up in BONDAGE GEAR!!!

Did someone forget to tell her it was THE OSCARS!?!?!? And not the Skin Two Fetish Ball :S WTF!?

There we have it, my winners, the travesties and the WTF’s.
