Pregnancy, miscarriages, still born, the words that fill moms everywhere with joy then dread. As woman who want children, even getting pregnant can at times be one of the most difficult things to do, some having to blindly turn to the medical world and endure the rollarcoaster that is IVF. This rollarcoaster has many twists and turns and no guarantees. Multiple babies, one, none, the trial to get pregnant is heart wrenching for so many couples.
If/when the long awaited positive sign of pregnancy comes, the fear of losing said precious bundle is at the forefront. Most don’t reveal their pregnancy before 12-16 wks, but then they don’t get the bigger protection/rest, their body might need. After 12-16wks, most feel the biggest danger area is done and relax, announce the good news and deal with their ever blossoming bump 🙂
A newsline like the above fills mums with dread, I’m sure many a mum carressed her bump and cried for Amanda Holden. Those who have lost, like me, cried for her pain and loss also. Those who are trying will hold this in the forefront of their thoughts, frightened of the rollarcoaster ahead.
Miscarriage statistics:
Miscarriage statistics can be dramatic, it reportedly occurs in 20% of all pregnancies. However, according to some sources this may be an inaccurate number. Many woman, before realising a life has begun forming within them, may miscarry without knowing it and presume they’re having a heavier period than normal. Therefore the rate could be as high as 40-50%. Of the number of woman who miscarry, 20% suffer recurring miscarriages.
