So the 6 nations is going to the final weekend (as we had all expected right?) but maybe we didn’t think it would be in quite this fashion;
Wales 19 Ireland 13
This match will always be remembered but sadly not because of how brilliant Wales were against the Irish but sadly for incorrect officiating. Mike Phillips try should never have stood and the subsequent conversion handed Wales 7 points. Ireland were and are still obviously annoyed, their hopes of the Triple Crown now over. Wales were happy although they did agree that the try should not have stood.
Italy 22 France 21
Italy won the match with a penalty in the last dying minutes from Bergamasco. 17 points had come from Berdamasco’s boot and just one try in this historic win over France.
I was certainly surprised by this result.
England 22 Scotland 16
With Wales winning against Ireland, England had to win. Luckily this match gave England the right result but not the right performance. England lacked the composure and were error-ridden from the start. Next week’s match against Ireland always looked to be the decisive match for the 6 Nations title. England have enough of a points difference over Wales that all they need to is beat Ireland. They will of course need to put in a better performance against an Irish side who are still reeling over their defeat to Wales.
It looks likely Mike Tindall will not play in the last match after a calf injury, Nick Easter is likely to take over the captaincy instead.
