Sometimes I feel like the guys might think I’m singling them out. After all, most of my fashion posts are about what guys should and shouldn’t wear. Guys, I’m not giving the ladies a free pass. I promise. This post here is a little retribution for you guys – a way to single out some atrocities and let them know about it. Now, unless you’re Blake Lively, these will apply to you. Cause when it comes to fashion, there can’t be double standards. Right, guys? So here are 5 faux-pas when it comes to women’s fashion and style.
1. Chipped nail polish. Ugh.
Unless you’re trapped on an island like the survivors of Oceanic flight 815, there’s no reason to have chipped nail polish. It makes all outfits look sloppy. If you took the time to put nail polish on in the first place, make sure you reapply. Don’t look like you’re homeless or a plane crash survivor. Hell, I still bet that you could’ve found some nail polish in someone’s bag. Priorities, ladies.
2. A little goes a long way.
Ladies, don’t overdo it when it comes to make up. Most guys don’t really want to date a circus clown, unless they have a weird fetish or something. If you look in the mirror and it seems like you put on a little too much make-up, you probably did. When asking yourself, “Should I use a little more?” the answer is usually “No.”
3. Yes, size matters.
If it looks like you could drive a soccer mom’s minivan into your purse, it’s too big. I understand the appeal, and even the utility, but unless you’re smuggling babies across international borders, your purse doesn’t need to be that big. Enough space for the essentials and that’s about all.
4. UGGs can be ugly.
Fall is around the corner, so I guess we’ll see if the UGG craze is really going strong. Actually, I take that back. Seems people think UGGs in the summer are a good idea. In fact, it seems many ladies think that their UGGs can go with just about any garb. I have news for you: They don’t. I understand the appeal. They were a hot item that turned into a must-have fad. Even guys have been wearing them. I do not endorse this. But the fact of the matter is they don’t go with any outfit. I get it, you wake up, throw on some clothes, and rush to Starbucks – fine, wear the UGGs. Just don’t think that it’s okay to wear them all the time. There aren’t many people that can truly pull off UGGs with a sundress. Chances are, you aren’t one of them.
5. There is only one Gaga.
Chances are Lady Gaga isn’t reading this. If she is – Gaga, please tell everyone that there is only one of you. Thanks. For the rest of the ladies out there, you’re not Gaga. And even if you were, it doesn’t make it truly fashionable. For the love of God, she wore a dress made out of meat. It was to prove some point, but my point is that outlandish isn’t for normal folk. Don’t throw on the most ridiculous outfit. It’ll make you look crazy or homeless. Or both.
