Music Monday: The Smiths

There is very little sadly to say about this video. Morrissey infamously said in an interview that he thought music videos were a fad….

The song was originally supposed to be released as a single, and this is why The Smiths agreed to film a music video. The video has become somewhat iconic as Morrissey cycles around with his fans, passing the Salford Lads Club and other major areas of Smiths worship.

Due to the reference “plan a mass murder” the song was banned from daytime airplay by the BBC. This made the band decide not to release the song as single in the UK, but it was released in North America, Europe, Australasia and Japan.
