The infallible Made In Chelsea made an explosive return to our TV screens last night. Oh how I’ve missed the antics of the rich.
The episode was introduced by the advertising campaign ‘#imready’ which has been going viral over the past few weeks. My personal favourite part of this advert is Francis Boulle, with the line “I’m ready… to say words”. He didn’t seem to say much in this episode though, instead relying on facial expressions and awkward mumbles to get him out of sticky situations, particularly concerning the wrath of Spencer Matthews following the revelation he had been unfaithful to girlfriend Louise Thompson.
A great thing about this new series is the way it began with a recap of ‘the best bits’ of Series 4. Which means we got to see Millie slap Spencer again! I honestly could watch that a million times and not get bored!
Spencer and Louise’s relationship was the main focus of the episode; Louise’s (in my opinion) naivety at getting back with Spencer has caused deep rifts in the Chelsea clan. The ‘boi”s plan of getting a bachelor pad together is now in tatters as Spencer refuses to speak to Francis in a civil manner, instead unjustly referring to him as “the definition of bellend”. I’m sorry, Spencer, but have you looked in the mirror lately? You may be unbelievably attractive physically, but you are still “a bellend”. Also, it seems that the trio of Rosie, Millie and Louise is shattered after Louise refuses to acknowledge that the two girls are right. Why is she willing to lose all her friends for Spencer, after he’s messed her about more than once?
Even when Louise is told that Spencer rang Lucy (self-proclaimed “player”) the day after they broke up, the most she can do is turn on the waterworks and throw a napkin at him. A napkin. I bet that caused a lot of damage. One humorous tweeter commented that Louise “could supply Africa with water from your tears for a lifetime the amount of times you’ve cried this episode.”
It’s not far off the truth though. And all these tears are rendered pointless by Spencer’s cruelty at leaving her in the restaurant and the rest of Chelsea no longer having sympathy for her due to her being a bit of a ‘mug’.
In the rest of Chelsea land, things have drastically changed over the summer! Cheska and Binky are no longer BFFs, Ollie has a new girlfriend (none other than Francis’s ex Ashley!), Francis and Sophia have broken up (no!) and groundbreakingly, Mark Francis has a job! Mark Francis and Victoria are the embodiment of my stereotype of the eccentric rich. I’m sorry to inform you though Mark, but staring at a piece of rubbish art in a gallery for 5 minutes isn’t real work. I was (no exaggeration) heartbroken to discover that Francis is no longer with Sophia. Their union at the end of last series was my favourite coupling EVER. How could Sophia walk away from Francis with his cute glasses and skateboard?!
